What to Expect
Black History Month Bike Tour, offers engagement of the rich Black heritage in the Atlanta landscape. Much of the sites holding the histories and rich contributions connected to Black Atlanta are hidden. These rides will put these narratives into context and share their significance. This tour travels across town beginning in Sweet Auburn, transversing downtown, over to the west side anchored by Washington High, the first public high school serving Black Atlantans opening in 1924. The tour travels through Sweet Auburn up to the Capitol through downtown and back to Sweet Auburn. There will be a studio visit to WERD/ Madame CJ Walker Museum. Visitors are welcome to visit the museum, see artifacts associated with the radio station and the hair salon industry, and discuss and listen to music from the era WERD radio station was on the air!

1. King National Park
The only urban National Park, includes the King Birth Home, burial sites for Dr. and Mrs. King, a Welcome Center, the Prince Hall Tabernacle, and Lodge. Currently, due to Covid, the Welcome Center is closed. Tours of the Birth Home is limited and must be scheduled in advance with the National Park.
2. Murals along Edgewood Ave.
Murals showcase social challenges in education internationally and in the US, celebrate the life of a local rap artist, women instrumental in the formation of community life and institutions, and more.
3. The Hurt Building and Park
Designed by Joel Hurt, this tells early transportation history of Atlanta.
4. The Capital of Georgia
The grounds are filled with statues that help to contextualize how the social and political environment.
5. Broad Street and Underground Atlanta
Showcase Civil Rights history and transportation history of the city.
6. Auburn Avenue
Many of the buildings and murals help to tell the story of Black Atlanta, its institutions, and movements.
Visitors will visit one of the oldest Black Settlements in the city, where many of the original structures are standing. They are murals by local artists that pay homage to significant people of the past. The tours are filled with points of interest from beginning to end that stretch from the past to the present. We will travel through the main drag and will engage with creatives, foodie culture, and folks in their daily life. You will leave with a feeling of connectedness to Atlanta!

We will meet at 450 Auburn Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30312, USA - Parking Lot and from there the experience will start.
Experiences may be rescheduled, please contact us at least one day ahead of your scheduled tour to make any changes.
Come for your tour dressed comfortably and bring water for yourself.
If we are experiencing inclement weather, the tour will either be postponed, or rescheduled, or you will receive a refund.
We are traveling through neighborhood areas (commercial districts) it is important to be respectful of the people and community. Do not take photos of individuals unless permission is given.
We will provide instructions on how to ride safely in the city, you are required to follow all rules of the road.
