Blackvoyageurs is a peer-to-peer marketplace that advertises your services as a host. You are free to manage your own availability and adjust it to your personal schedule. Still, we require for a host to be available at least 3 days a week to have an offer on Blackvoyageurs.
Your destination is not showing on Blackvoyageurs? That’s a bummer! This means we are still not active in that specific destination.

Description
Tell us your story and other details that the guest might find relatable at the moment of picking their perfect host. Make it interesting and not sales-y.
Eg: I am a local to Madrid and know the city inside and out. I studied history and archaeology which allowed me to learn more about my beautiful country and its history. My idea of the perfect day would be sitting on the terrace, soaking up the sun while reading books. Then when I have finished reading I love to go and socialize with my friends in the city, we are always discovering amazing places to eat and drink (I know some of the really secret spots not in the guide book). My other passion is music, I teach guitar to kids when I am not showing people around my city.
Your personal bio
What would be your tagline? Write it down in this section. Make it fun & catchy!
Follow the structure: The [adjective] [noun]
Eg: The Friendly Guitarist, The Happy Historian, The Chatty Explorer, etc.

Bank Transfer payment or Paypal: you will receive full payment for the booking
Cash payment: you will not receive payment for this booking
Cancellation from partner companies:
If you as a host choose to cancel a booking, the full refund is issued to the partner company.
If the partner company cancels the booking within 72 hours, the host receives full payment.
If the partner company cancels the booking for more than 72 hours before the trip but within 6 days (144 hours), the host receives 50% payment.
If the partner company cancels the booking 7 days and more before the trip, the host does not receive any payment and the partner company is fully refunded.
*This takes into account the starting time of the experience.
Booking Requests rejected/withdrawn/expired before confirmation: All bookings must be confirmed within 48 hours. If you reject or don’t confirm within this time range, the booking request expires and no payment will be made to you. Here are some tips for dealing with late guests:
Before the experience - The day before the experience send the guests a message to let them know where you will be and send them travel tips on how to get there!
Waiting time - If you have waited for 5 minutes, give the guests a call on the mobile number they have provided you to see if they are close by or if they are lost. Keep in mind this can happen since they are in a city completely unknown to them.
No response? - If you don’t hear from them, liaise with Blackvoyageurs HQ - via the contact form or send an email to [email protected] and let us know the situation, we’re here to help!
Waited 30 mins? - We recommend hosts to wait 30 minutes at the meeting point, even if the guests are not responding and be aware of any small groups around, as they might be there waiting for you too!
In case the guests don’t show up, you will still receive payment for the experience, according to our policy

While being a host on Blackvoyageurs you are free to choose the payment method that is most convenient for you. To facilitate payments, Blackvoyageurs will act as a commercial agent on your behalf. You can find more information at the ‘Payments’ section of our Terms & Conditions.
Wherever you are located, we offer the following payment methods:
Bank transfer that will be sent out to you and a monthly basis.
Or Paypal transfer that will be sent out to you on a monthly basis (Additional PayPal fees may apply)
Blackvoyageurs strongly recommends to use the bank payment method to secure your payment in case guests do not show up or cancel the experience last minute. With the bank payment method the transaction is completed through our payment system and therefore we can guarantee you’ll still receive the money. PayPal may generate additional fees
The payment for the services you provided to your guests is made according to the payment method you selected:
Bank transfer: made monthly. With a SEPA payment (for EU banks) it takes 1 day for the money to reach your account after the transfer was made. For other bank transfers it usually takes from 5 to 10 working days for the money to reach your account after the transfer was made.
Paypal transfer: The transfer is made monthly and reaches your Paypal account instantly. However additional fees may apply of you opt for a PayPal payment
For our services, Blackvoyageurs asks a transparent variable service commission:
- From 15% to 20% of the total guest price for your own experiences (host offer)
- For selected experiences (Such as concerts for example), we add a fee on top of the ticket price. The fee is therefore passed over to the guest and may or may not be added to the host commission.
After the booking is confirmed, Blackvoyageurs will send you an invoice with our administration costs. Please use our invoices to declare your taxes.
Each invoice will be sent to you automatically on a monthly basis by email. If you did not receive your invoice or credit note, please send an email to [email protected] and we'll help you out.
Note that the invoice sent by Blackvoyageurs refers to the Blackvoyageurs fee paid for the platform & services we provide. To declare your earnings and expenses to your tax office, you might need to create a separate invoice where you can declare your other expenses (costs of the experiences and Blackvoyageurs fee).

Information for Blackvoyageurs hosts – Taxation and value added tax
Blackvoyageurs is an online marketplace platform where demand (travelers) meets supply (local hosts)
When a traveler makes a booking through the Blackvoyageurs platform, two contractual relationships are established and therefore should be recognized for taxation and/or value added tax purposes.
Contractual relationship #1: between Blackvoyageurs and the host (you)
Blackvoyageurs provides hosts with a service by enabling them to connect and offer their services to travelers. By using Blackvoyageurs’ services, a direct contractual relationship is established between Blackvoyageurs and you (the host) in which Blackvoyageurs provides a service to you as a host for which you will receive an invoice from Blackvoyageurs. On this invoice, value added tax will be calculated depending on several variables, E.g. your country, if you are a private person or a business. Any amounts received by Blackvoyageurs from the traveler on your behalf will be passed on to you after deducting any invoices you have to pay to Blackvoyageurs.
Contractual relationship #2: between the host (you) and the traveler (guest)
In addition, as a host, you offer your services (tours, experiences and activities) to the traveler and a direct contractual relationship is established between you (as a host) and the traveler. As a host you are responsible to hand the traveler a receipt/invoice after the services have been performed and to make sure all applicable taxes (sales tax, value added tax, any other (local) tax) are calculated.
By offering your services as a host to the traveler, you earn income. You are solely responsible for paying any income tax, value added tax, corporate income tax or any other tax to the respective tax authorities applicable in your country.
Offering services as a private person
If you are a host offering your services to travelers as a private person, you are not allowed to charge value added tax on your services and you are also not allowed to deduct value added tax for expenses paid. Your net income (after deducting expenses) should be reported as income with your local tax authorities for them to establish the amount of income/personal tax you have to pay.
Offering services as a business
If you are a host offering your services to travelers as a business, normally you are allowed to charge value added tax on your services and you are also allowed to deduct value added tax for expenses paid. Your net income (after deducting expenses) should be reported as income with your local tax authorities for them to establish the amount of corporate income tax you have to pay as a business
Other important notes
If you purchase certain goods and services from external parties (E.g. food, entrance tickets, etc..) to incorporate into your services performed for your traveler, normally these expenses would be deductible from the income you earn, thereby reducing your tax bill.
For your tax declaration it is important to save all receipts and invoices you receive and issue regarding the services offered to you by Blackvoyageurs , the services offered by you to the traveler and any expenses paid.
Please make sure you take a close look at the local taxation and value added tax rules and guidelines in your country. Even though we as Blackvoyageurs will try in any way possible for you to get it right, you and yourself are solely responsible for declaring and paying all taxes on the services you perform for the travelers
In order to change or edit the payment method/account details please go to your profile and edit them in the relevant section

As a host, you have a unique chance to share local knowledge with your guests, and also share tips and tricks on how to respect the natural and cultural environment of your destination!
